If you thought 2023 was a damn good year for anime, just wait until 2024 wraps up. Nearly every major series returned to air this summer, alongside theatrical releases that are already breaking box-office records. You may be thinking that anime couldn't get any better following last year's stellar Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, but this year's slate is blowing me away. One Piece is boasting a new animation style, Demon Slayer opened its third season with a mind-blowing one-hour special, and the action-packed Maschle contained a title song so catchy that hip-hop du0 Creepy Nuts' "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart for 19 nonconsecutive weeks.

This fall will also see Dragon Ball debut its grand return, alongside another rework of Junji Ito's Uzumaki. If that wasn't enough, new titles such as Dan Da Dan, Blue Box, and Kaiju No. 8 are sure to become fan favorites in no time. They'll also join My Hero Academia, Bleach: The Thousand Year Blood War, and Chainsaw Man, which are all set to premiere new seasons by the end of the year. Plus, hit sports anime Haikyu!! and Blue Lock took their next installments to the big screens, keeping anime fans happy at home and at the theater.

If there was ever a year in contention for the best year in anime history, 2024 is absolutely stepping up to the plate. Check out our favorites below.
